A brilliant new walkway made by Mr. R.
Almost all of the Wood He either found or got for a song...we've been planning a new walk for years..
As you can see it takes quite a beating down here at the waters edge.
salt marsh hay ...garden gold....I use this in the dried state as mulch on my vegetable garden..
....as children we swam here everyday in the summer.
Our entire summer revolved around the tide calendar.
When the tide is a flood tide such as this ....it's several feet above the marsh and you can take a kayak right from here to the river and then across to the ocean....If you look in the distance you can see the houses on the beach....
cats........
getting ready for winter....
right next to the wood stove...sometimes they lie almost underneath...
lots of cleanup for the weekend....the wind blew in the 50 mph range for hours...over 4"of rain...
Time for a glass of wine!! Happy Friday .......
this is so wonderful, holly. what a good life there....i love the changing colors of the marsh grass.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place you live in - I would be afraid of all that water as I have never lived with such a landscape, but you have grown up with it, understand it's tides and seasons and live side by side with it. The walkway is beautiful, I would love to wander down there with lanterns at night!
ReplyDeleteEven tho' I live on the ocean, I'm very envious of your location. I love wetlands the best - bogs, marshes, yum!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful walk way. We live in a swamp with a lagoon out back. We're near the ocean, but not on it. Love your pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful walk way to the water. Such a lovely place. Ohhh I really like your cats, so sweet! We got two of them in our house. Hope you have a peaceful weekend.
