It's Done!!! It's really done! Yahoo!!!

I did it!!!  I finally did it!!  Maia's quilt is done!! 

 It would have been done days ago but I could not stop adding to the embroidery!!  It was so much fun to do...I haven't washed it yet...so there are a few blue marking pen marks...but...unless it falls apart in the wash...it's done!!

I used silver thread for the spokes...

and I added Maia now that we have seen her......

I went to a sewing expo a few weeks ago and I was given a charm pack ( 5" squares ) well the embroideries are on 5" squares and these are the colors mummy wanted for the little girl soooooo that worked out well!!

A few years ago I stopped using batting for my quilts...I had a number of quilts sort of fall apart so I started to use fleece.....and I love it....it drapes really well and you can use it on the outside or on the inside as the batting with cotton outside....for this I used both...soft soft soft!!!

I machine quilted for the first time....I love how hand quilting looks but I put the embroideries to far out to the edges so the quilting would have gone into them.... sooooo I did a stitch in the ditch....and I think its ok......I love to hand quilt but I didn't plan well.....I did hand stitch the binding though......

Spring Garden.......oh man... ..I have been working hours out here....HOURS....and it's just starting to get there...... I love it but...... whoa....it is a lot in the spring..

Sorry it is such a long post but as usual I am overdue on the posting scene! I do need to get better at it.... I am absolutely over the moon that I have 55 followers.....Thank you all...I know it's not a lot compared to some of you but to me it seems like a million!!!!! It really has become one of the great parts of my life getting to know you out there.....I hope to meet some of you some day!!!! I think you all are just Tops!!!!!! Happy day and  Huge hugs to you all!!

P.S.  Now here this ...I am going to FINISH quite a few things in the next few months.....you will all bear witness to this and then......I will be having a... give a way... and starting to fill my etsy shop!!!

Spring is exploding! A new life!!!

Well do we ever have happy news!  A new little girl is in our lives!!  Miss Maia has joined our wonderful family!  Mr. Richard and I were never blessed with our own children but we have adopted into our family all sorts of heavenly people...and so we are sort of the adopted auntie and uncle....

 This is my favorite picture so far of this sweet girl...she is 6lbs 2 0z...soooo little....her little head is in her daddy's hand!   We are in Love....

 Moving along on the sewing room!

 I am to excited about this to even think of it...I know it is going to take some time as Mr. R is doing all the work himself on days off....but so worth the wait!  I think I am going to need help naming this little place....I have come up with a few names but nothing has stuck...

 O.k. so if you have a new little girl....you need to make her a fun thing to look at in bed! I have been have so much fun doing little squares of embroidery... this one is my fav..

 each of these is a 5 inch square...I will do  maybe one of these per row and then the rest will be prints..

 I have always loved the look of scrap quilts...lots of different color prints that are just fun...

 I think I am going to add a sun in the upper corner...

 I had so much fun doing this one...I used metallic thread for the spokes and handle bars..

Happy Spring!!

Hello all!!   Happy spring or Fall... wherever you may be in this world!!  I am as always...too long away from the keyboard so today we are updating!!    Vacation!!  Yes....we really did a holiday in a warm place....something we have not been able to do for some years.... My sister and I cared for both our parents for 17 years and many things were put aside....and now we are making up for some lost time!! ............... and boy was it ever wonderful!!!!     ...

 We were on Captiva Island on the gulf coast of Florida... the wild life is unbelievable!!   The most beautiful birds and fish....oh and......

 Yes.....Bloody Marys.....by the pool!!

Yes....that is me.....My hubby and I love bicycles.. we ride everywhere we go....Mr. Richard is a serious rider....crossed the U.S. on his bike...he has ridden all over the world...I am just a regular rider but I love it.....things are so accessible on bikes....and so quiet....I am so assaulted by the noise of the world these days....I am always seeking a quiet spot...

 We stayed in a  wonderful place and it is really really beautiful....lots of pools...long beaches... there was one pool just outside are apartment and almost no one was ever there!!???!!  so I called it Holly's pool....I would go down by myself and bring a project and it was totally quiet and  peaceful....the pool was so warm.....it was heaven.......just heaven.....

 Seaview studio is progressing!!!   All Cleaned out and now the new windows are going in!! Mr. Richard is doing the work...

 Sadly this beauty has to go...it does not open and it is very old although in really good shape....thinking of what we may do with it....It is not really winter proof....  any ideas!?

There will be windows here instead of the barn doors... and the door will be on the right side....it is 12 feet by 16 feet.....It does not seem real to me that I might really have a studio!!!!  I am afraid to even think about what it will  be like....My table to cut fabric is now our bed with a cardboard tabletop  on it....and honestly...I have never minded...except that I have to clean up every night...I am not a person who wants for much....well except for time to do hand work.....I have always felt so lucky to have what I have the I don't like to think about adding......but..........I am really excited!!!!!  Reeeeeeeeally excited!!!

Next post...some projects that must be finished!!!!!  Happy Day to you all!!!
OH and.......I have 49 followers.......I just can not believe it!  I have so loved getting to know you out there...it has been one of the really great experiences of my life.....49!!!  I just can't believe it!!!
